PrefaceIn recent years, due to the rapid development of lithium batteries, many portable products have used voltage measurements to estimate the remaining battery capacity. However, the relationship between battery voltage and remaining battery capacity varies with discharge rate, temperature, and battery aging degree. The error rate using this method can reach up to 50%. Due to the increasing demand for products with longer usage times in the market, more precise solutions are needed in design. Using an intelligent battery detection meter IC to measure the amount of battery charged or consumed will provide more accurate power levels across a wide range of application power levels

Design requirements for intelligent batteries for testing instrumentsAccording to customer requirements and specifications, design a smart battery pack that is compatible with the host. Integrate the smart electricity meter with communication protocol (SBS communication protocol) and battery safety protection performance into your solution to achieve information sharing between the battery pack and the host, ultimately achieving a reasonable, efficient, and safe battery management solution.
Specific design parameter requirements

1) Cell design requirements: Imported Sanyo cell combination (18650-4S4P/8.8Ah/14.8V) shall be used.

2) Structural design requirements: The appearance is exquisite, and the overall battery meets the requirements of waterproof and shockproof. In terms of appearance design, it adopts a high-end aluminum alloy shell and special waterproof plugs.

3) Circuit design requirements: precise power management+precise LED power display. Adopting the SBS intelligent battery management system design scheme, effectively manage the remaining battery power at all times. Accurate LED power display, effectively displaying the remaining battery power to users in the form of LED lights in a precise percentage at all times, in order to achieve efficient and intuitive purposes.


Design Scheme of Intelligent Battery for Testing Instruments

1) Aluminum alloy shell and aluminum bracket: Exquisitely designed aluminum alloy shell according to customer requirements, meeting waterproof and shockproof requirements, as well as good heat dissipation requirements under high current operation.

2) Intelligent Battery Meter Protection Board (PCM): Using the SBS intelligent battery management system, advanced battery calculation principles are used to accurately and constantly calculate the battery's power, and the battery's power information is reported to the host through SMBUS. At the same time, it provides protection functions to rechargeable intelligent battery packs (generally referred to as lithium batteries). Due to the chemical characteristics of lithium batteries, protection functions such as overcharging, discharging, short circuit, overcurrent, and overheating need to be provided, To avoid danger of combustion, explosion, etc.

3) LED power display board: The LED power display light displays the battery capacity calculated by the intelligent power meter protection board at a 20% power ratio, in order to efficiently and intuitively facilitate customer use.

4) Over current protection plate (PTC): mainly designed for secondary protection function. PTC recoverable fuse has dual functions of overcurrent protection and automatic recovery. PTC in battery products can prevent high-temperature discharge and unsafe high current of the battery.

5) UR18650-4S4P/10Ah/14.8V lithium-ion battery pack (SANYO).

6) Special vacuum waterproof special plug: The battery is externally connected with vacuum waterproof connection to meet customer waterproof requirements

7) Waterproof LED label sticker.
